HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE WHEN YOU ARE LAZY

We have all been there. You are trying to complete that job or task, but you are just so lazy and don’t even feel like doing it at all. Many motivational speakers will tell you to fight it, but as a girl who has been doing this for years, I have a different opinion. It is not just about fighting it; it is about understanding your body and dealing with it. Just like everything, it is a phrase, and sometimes you just have to learn how to run with it.

There are so many things that can make you lazy or put you in a slump. Your cycle, the weather, a lack of motivation, and so many other factors can be overwhelming, but the key to overcoming them is not fighting against them, but learning how to navigate them. Those things are there for a reason, and sometimes fighting them is not a good idea. Here are some ways to beat laziness or slumps and stay productive.

SYNC YOUR WORK FLOW TO YOUR PERIOD

As a woman, you typically have a 25 to 28-day menstrual cycle, and during this time, your energy levels can fluctuate. This may lead to periods of laziness and reduced productivity. To make the most of your cycle, try syncing your work with your menstrual phases. Assign heavier tasks to the week when you are most productive, typically during the follicular phase, and schedule lighter work for when you are on your period. To help you keep track of your cycle, consider using apps like Flo or Stardust. I personally use Stardust, but both apps are excellent choices.

JOURNAL

Journaling is such an underrated activity to do when you feel lazy, and I think it’s because people don’t understand how to do it. Writing to your future self is the best way to get out of a slump. Ask ‘Her’ questions like ‘what will you do in this current moment?’ Encourage her, and let her know that things are getting better. In that way, you are encouraging yourself and making things easier and better for you. I personally use this journal, and I swear by it.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Sometimes you are lazy because that is all you know. Taking responsibility for it and actually looking for ways to change it can help you. It will allow you to adopt that mindset and do something that will be better for you in the long run. Learn to admit to yourself the hard things because that is the only way you will be better and become the best version of yourself.

BUILD SYSTEMS NOT GOALS

You might feel lazy and unmotivated when you feel lost and don’t know what to do. Plan your week in advance and make sure you allocate specific times for everything, even if it is as small as ten minutes of reading. Instead of creating time for a task whenever you feel like it, establish a system or routine and make that task part of it. It will be much better, and you will achieve your goals more effectively. Also, create a task list and tick off items each week. I do this, and it helps me stay consistent.

Like I said, fighting laziness or lack of motivation is not easy. Sometimes you need to learn to work around it, and these methods have helped me a lot. I hope this will be of help to you as well.
