If you really want to elevate yourself, it’s not just about changing your wardrobe or looking good. It is also about working on your character and getting smarter. We don’t just want to look good, we want to be ‘beauty with brains’. Here are some hobbies you can try to get smarter.

READING

Reading is the easiest way to get smarter. Whether it is fiction or non-fiction, reading is such a good way to gain knowledge and become smarter. Start with the genre you like. Whether it is romance, fantasy or self-help, any one you start with will be fine. I recommend getting a Kindle. They are very easy to use, and I read faster on an eBook than a physical copy.

LEARNING A NEW LANGUAGE

Imagine meeting someone and discovering they speak different languages. You might think they are clever, right? Learning a new language is very beneficial. It makes you smarter and more knowledgeable about people’s culture and ways of life. Try easy language learning apps first to learn faster and better.

COOKING AND BAKING

You might not think of cooking as something that can make you smarter, but it can. It is such a good way to learn new skills and new things about different cultures and traditions. This will help you with your organisational and time management skills. Try to cook something different every time and don’t be afraid to fail.

PLAYING CHESS

Playing chess helps you think ahead and consider the moves of your opponent. It is a good hobby that trains your brain and risk management skills.  It might be intimidating at first, but it is the best workout you can give your brain. It challenges your mind and helps you focus and think strategically about every move you make because every move matters.

LEARNING AN INSTRUMENT

Studies have shown that people who play musical instruments tend to have better problem-solving skills and better connections between the two sides of their brain. Learning an instrument is such a powerful and rewarding experience, even if you don’t want to make it your career. It boosts your memory and focus.

PUZZLES

Solving puzzles is such a good way to improve your problem-solving skills, memory, and concentration without it feeling like hard work, and there is something so fulfilling about getting to the end and putting all the pieces together.

I hope you found some inspiration from this. If you have tried any of these or will try any of these, let me know in the comments. Also, if you have any suggestions for different kinds of hobbies to get also let me know.
